This 45 year old woman had breast fed two children and noticed that her breasts seemed deflated. In addition, she had undergone a breast biopsy for microcalcifications and wanted to know how that affected her ability to undergo breast augmentation surgery. She consulted with board certified Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Solomon to learn about her options. He reviewed her history and mammograms. Dr. Solomon examined her in his suburban Philadelphia office and told her that she was a good candidate for breast augmentation. He outlined all of her options. Dr. Solomon helped her to understand the differences between saline and silicone breast implants. He also demonstrated the various types of incisions including the armpit, the belly button, in the nipple area and beneath the breast. She chose to have saline implants placed using and incision beneath each breast. Her recovery was uneventful and her follow-up mammograms are normal. She is thrilled with her natural looking results, having gone from being a 34B bra to a 34D. She has 450 cc smooth round implants filled to 480 cc on each side. She is seen one year after surgery.
