LASER TREATMENTS
Laser Treatments/Spider Vein Removal/Facial Resurfacing
Laser Treatments
For men and women alike, having excess hair on the skin can be embarrassing. To add insult to injury, many methods of hair removal are painful and need to be repeated over and over again. Until the advent of lasers, hair removal methods included the following:
. Shaving
. Waxing
. Plucking
. Bleaching
With laser treatments, hair removal has become much safer, faster and more effective. Imagine having smooth, hair-free skin without the pain of waxing (ouch!) or tedious shaving! Using the latest laser technology, Dr. Solomon can achieve effective, long lasting results for both male and female patients.
Dr. Solomon was the among the first (if not the first in the country) to do Laser Treatments.) He uses three different devices, depending on hair color and skin type - the procedure can be customized to meet the aesthetic needs of each patient. This is key, because results are directly dependent on the knowledge and skill of the surgeon - and Dr. Solomon has been doing Laser Treatments for a very long time. You could say he's a laser pioneer!
Dr. Solomon's hair removal patients will experience virtually no down time; the office procedure is virtually painless and requires more than one visit for optimal results.
LASER SPIDER VEIN REMOVAL
Spider veins are tiny veins that radiate out on the skin like a spider's web. Women suffer from these unsightly veins more than men, and can cause a woman to be self-conscious and embarrassed. Some of the causes of spider veins are:
. Birth control pills
. Aging
. Sun exposure
. Genetics
While some spider veins, like those on the legs, can be treated by sclerotherapy (injecting solution into the vein causing it to collapse and disappear), others, like those on the face, are too small to be treated that way. That's where laser treatments come into play.
The laser is first calibrated for each individual patient. Then, the oils and impurities are removed from the face or other area to be treated, and the laser is applied in short bursts. During the procedure, you may smell smoke and hear a zapping sound. You may also feel a stinging or burning sensation. Afterwards, the treated area will be covered in an antibacterial cream to prevent possible infection.
Patients can expect minimal redness, bruising or swelling. Most of Dr. Solomon's patients can resume their normal activity in about 3-4 days.
LASER FACIAL RESURFACING
Oftentimes, sun damage and the signs of aging can leave a person's face looking older and less attractive. Laser facial resurfacing can be used to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and the eyes. It can also be very effective in treating problems with uneven skin tone.
In laser resurfacing, also commonly known as a 'laser peel', Dr. Solomon uses a new laser - a Lytec Portrait laser using plasma technology. The laser is superheated and applied to the face. It doesn't burn off the skin, but rather 'resurfaces' the skin by targeted the skin beneath the surface. The laser is used to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer.
Procedure
During laser facial resurfacing, the outer layers of the damaged skin are stripped away and new cells form during healing. In the process, the facial skin appears smoother, tighter and more youthful. For patients with extensive wrinkling and other imperfections, Dr. Solomon may do the laser facial resurfacing in multiple stages.
After the procedure, Dr. Solomon may cover the patient's skin with antibiotic creams or ointments. The procedure takes up to an hour and is most often performed under local anesthesia with sedation.
Dr. Solomon recommends a 2 week recovery time. Redness and swelling of the face may persist for up to 6 months.
Dr. Solomon is the consummate expert when it comes to lasers. For a customized consultation for any of the above procedures, Dr. Solomon encourages you to call for an appointment.
