Philadelphia and New York Liposuction
Hard work and discipline are not always enough to achieve your self-improvement goals. Pockets of fat can detract from the toned, fit look you desire. Women and men of all ages in Philadelphia and New York choose liposuction surgery from cosmetic surgeon Dr. Mark Solomon to sculpt and refine their shape when other means have failed.
Improvements from Liposuction
Liposuction is an effective surgical procedure that removes isolated areas of unwanted fat. It is not a weight loss method or a substitute for a proper diet and exercise routine. Ideal patients should be at or near their ideal weight and have good skin elasticity. This procedure provides a variety of improvements including:
- Flattening the tummy
- Removing saddle bags from the sides of the thighs
- Decreasing love handles on the hips
- Sculpting the cheeks, chin, and jaw line
- Reducing fat deposits on enlarged male breasts
Many women and men combine liposuction with other Philadelphia and New York plastic surgery procedures such as breast augmentation, tummy tuck, or face lift to enhance their improvements. Dr. Solomon will discuss your goals and review the possible combinations with you at your personal consultation.
The results of traditional liposuction surgery can be enhanced by combining it with LaserTight®, a patented technology developed by Dr. Solomon that vaporizes fat and tightens skin in areas that are traditionally difficult to treat. These treatments are particularly suited for resolving small pockets of fat such as those around the eyes and under the chin.
Procedure & Recovery
Dr. Solomon usually performs liposuction in Philadelphia and New York as an outpatient procedure while the patient is under local or general anesthesia. He inserts a thin, hollow tube called a cannula through tiny incisions near the treatment areas and injects a solution of anesthetic, salt-water, and epinephrine to numb the area and inhibit bleeding. The cannula is moved in and out to break up the fat and allow it to be suctioned away. The length of the surgery varies depending on the size and number of areas being treated.
Immediately after your liposuction procedure, treated areas likely will be placed in compression garments to reduce swelling and encourage proper healing. You might initially have mild swelling and bruising which will fade within a few weeks. Most patients can resume light activity, including work, within just a few days, and more strenuous exercise in three to four weeks.
Most Philadelphia and New York liposuction patients immediately notice improvements from their surgery. Over the following four to six weeks most patients will notice that their improvements continue to develop as swelling subsides and skin retightens to a new, more compact shape.
When chosen with realistic expectations, Dr. Solomon's liposuction patients are usually very pleased with their results. Many patients gain the confidence to wear a greater variety of clothing. Women appreciate increased self-confidence when wearing sleeveless tops, skirts, and even bikini bathing suits. Men enjoy looking great in fitted t-shirts, tucked in business shirts, or even going shirtless at the pool.
